Volcan Barú
A cloud forest surrounds the base of Volcan Barú.
Boquete sits nestled in the foothills of Volcan Barú.
This volcano is an ever-present and majestic reminder of Panama's history and culture. At the peak you can see both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
This is the only place on earth where it is possible to stand in one place and see two bodies of water on opposite sides of a continent. It's
just one example to the unique opportunities that Boquete offers, but it's only a small sample of what you will find here!
Land of the Arco Iris
An arco iris (Spanish for RAINBOW). Picture taken from the window of a plane.
Boquete is known and renowned for its rainbows. It is not uncommon to see two or three rainbows overlapping or complimenting each other like the graceful dance of a divine paintbrush cutting across the sky. In Boquete you will experience one of the most beautiful phenomenons that nature has to offer: Bajareque (baw-hawd-áy-kay) It is a rain that is so light that walking through it won't dampen your clothes or make you wet. Bajareque is so light that it doesn't fall to the earth; it floats. The rain falls in late afternoon and creates the arco iris as if a peaceful capstone to the tranquil lifestyle that Boquete promises. Whether it is to vacation or to stay, Boquete is a relaxing escape.
